“Throughout my career as a pediatric nurse, I’ve witnessed firsthand the impact conditions like Crohn's and Colitis have on children and their families. Those experiences are why I am so proud to be involved in a cause that brings awareness and support to IBD sufferers, especially because it brings together a community of individuals who share a love of music.

Uniting my two passions to contribute to such a unique and valuable project brings me great joy and I’m grateful the people of Saskatoon enjoy Music for the Gut as much as this talented group of performers does”.

— Micaela Agopsowicz — 1st year Music for the Gut performer

"FRIENDS… last night I went to the first show of Music for the Gut 6… I won tickets to this fundraiser after sharing a video — and I just have to say the caliber of talent BLEW ME AWAY!!!

Great job to all involved! I found myself sitting there… wishing my kids had come with me, as they start band this year… there were many awesome musical interludes… showcasing some amazing local musicians! The young man who showed off his trumpet skills… really blew me away! (well, they really all did.. but my kids are taking up some brass instruments very soon — this one really had me wishing they were there!)

NOW --- I am encouraging YOU to think about attending show TWO on Saturday & it’s a completely different show… and I just see now that Jay Semko of the Northern Pikes will be there performing… how sweet! They will also be featuring music from Phantom of the Opera in one segment of the show… which is pretty cool… there are MANY fans of that great show… so, Yes I encourage you to check this out!"

— Shauntelle Cox — Saskatoon

"It was both a pleasure and an honour to have the opportunity to briefly chat with Jay Semko after the show. Having the opportunity to express gratitude to someone who’s provided years (decades) of entertainment is certainly not something you’re able to do every day.

Thank you so much to all of of you who organized this event or shared your incredible talents with us over the past week. Music for the Gut if by far our favourite musical event and we’ve been coming every year since the second, and to both nights if possible. We’ll be looking forward to next year!"

— Colin Wilson — Saskatoon

"I enjoyed a fantastic variety show last night — Music for the Gut 6 — with Jordie Hughton and Friends! Such a range of super-talented young people and an amazing amount of work by some 50 performers, that featured so many different types of music.

There’s another show tomorrow night — GO, people GO!!!!! You will not be sorry!"

— Brenda Baker — Saskatoon

"I’ve been a volunteer with Crohn’s and Colitis Canada for almost 11 years now and I’ve never seen a new event gain momentum like Music for the Gut has.

Jordie Hughton and his family and friends have created something absolutely magical. The performances, well… there’s nothing I can say to prepare you for what you are going to see. Just buy a ticket and make sure you wear socks to the show… so they can be blown off!

I’ll be able to say, “Yeah, well I was at Music for the Gut 1 !!”"

"CONGRATULATIONS on a hugely successful Music for the Gut 5. We so enjoyed being in attendance and so grateful things worked out this time that we were in Saskatoon. It was a fabulous evening and we have been talking it up with everyone we get a chance to tell. The music was amazing, the venue perfect, the organization outstanding and the “vibe” was so positive.

It is such a great fundraiser for such an important cause. Pats on the back to all the Hughtons for making this happen and for all the hard work to bring attention, funds and education to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada.

We spent some time with our niece in Kelowna this summer who has been living with this illness for several years now and still trying to get it under control as best she can. After being with her and hearing the testimonials again from your family, we were very humbled and pleased that we could make a small monetary donation.

Keep up the good work and we’ll keep spreading the word."

— Linda and Terry Stanviloff — Saskatoon

"In the spring of 2011, Basil Hughton, an old acquaintance, mentioned that his family was developing a concert fundraiser for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada. My response was that I’d watch for this event, and if possible, my wife, daughter and I would attend. That is how on a Saturday evening in late summer of 2011, my family and I found ourselves in Grace Westminster United Church with 300 or so other patrons at Music for the Gut.

We had no real expectations regarding what we were about to see and hear. Even if we would have had very high expectations, they were far exceeded by the professionalism and musicality on display that night. We were quite simply amazed by both the artistry and philanthropy of all the performers and by the Hughton family, who had obviously dedicated many hours to presenting the event. We were so impressed and when told that there would be a sequel in 2012, we offered our assistance in any way we could be best of use.

Somehow Music for the Gut 2 was even better than the 2011 production, with even more in attendance and a greater amount of funds raised for this very worthy cause. Once again, my family has been inspired to offer our support, in what we now know will be an Annual event. I would strongly encourage anyone and everyone to support Music for the Gut 3. I know I will be there."

— Roger Monson — RIP — Music for the Gut volunteer — Special Guest 2013

We so miss our dear friend, and concert supporter, Roger… Sandra and Alicia Monson also volunteered for many years. We’re so pleased to now have Alicia as one of our talented Music for the Gut performers!
